Web Design

I develop and maintain websites for nonprofit organizations. I like the fact that this work involves creativity - both visual design and writing - as well as communication skills and technical skills.

What are some related career opportunities and job titles in your company or in your career area?

There will be greater demand for interactive websites and for websites that are easier to maintain and update. Therefore higher level programming skills will be in demand.

What new technology will be important?

Right now the important technologies are ASP, XML, DHTML, etc. The exact technologies will change a lot every few years.

What education or training did you have to prepare for this career?

High school and college courses in graphic design, computer programming, English/writing/journalism. Also a strong liberal arts background.
