Job Title and Job Description

Web Developer

I build web applications -- software available on the internet. I like the creative and technical aspects of my job, getting to use both my left brain and right brain.

What are some related career opportunities and job titles in your company or in your career area?

I think a strong technical background (knowledge and experience with multiple programming languages such as C++, Java, Perl, etc) will be in demand, with a strong emphasis on the ability to learn new skills.

What new technology will be important?

I think personal instant access to the internet, whether it be for ordering groceries through the fridge or checking the traffic report while driving in your car has strong potential.

What education or training did you have to prepare for this career?

CS degree, or liberal arts degree only if you manage to get a lot of hands-on experience.

What education or training do you recommend for students today who want to enter this field?

CS degree, or liberal arts degree only if you manage to get a lot of hands-on experience.

When you were in high school, did you know that you would enter this field?

Not at all.
