I work in a hardware store that sells kitchen appliances, cabinets, etc. for kitchens. I meet with customers in the store and onsite to help them design a layout and sell them the materials they need.

Four year college degree with a major in art 

What education or training do you recommend for students today who want to enter this field?

Employers do not necessarily require a degree in art or design, but courses in art and design are very important. A knowledge of blueprints, architecture and design principles is very important. 

When you were in high school, did you know that you would enter this field?

No, I didn‘t know what I would do. I started in this field a few years after I graduated from college.
