Dangerous Goods Program Manager    

Oversee the transportation of dangerous goods by air. Visit air carriers, freight forwarders, and shippers to ensure that all dangerous goods shipments are properly packaged, marked, labelled, and transported according to Hazardous Materials Regulations.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) hires Cargo Security Specialists to help ensure that all freight is being shipped under Transportation Security Regulations.   

What new technology will be important?

Computerization - tracking cargo. The Federal Aviation‘s Air Traffic Division is always in the forefront of technolgy.     

What education or training did you have to prepare for this career?

I am constantly taking courses on the transportation of dangerous goods - at least two a year. The regulations are constantly changing.    

What education or training do you recommend for students today who want to enter this field?

The federal government hires "Outstanding Scholars." It will help to graduate from college with a good cumulative average.

No, Absolutely not. Fate and hard work landed me here.
